What is The Commune?
We're a group of gamers, and we're always looking for new gamers to join us. Every month or so, we pick a game to play. We chat about the game together, and we record podcasts, record videos, and write essays. You can reach The Commune in the following ways: As for me, I'm Greg Livingston, but I go by Golem. This is The Commune's second podcast on Live-a-Live, a SNES RPG featuring a wide variety of chapters.

This week, we played the kung fu chapter of Live-a-Live. Many of this chapter's fights aren't with foes--instead, you fight your students in order to train them. As the master, your students are easy to defeat, since they're newbies. That makes sense in terms of story, but does the gameplay suffer for it? Don't you want challenge in an RPG? In this episode, we discuss how gameplay and story relate: when they work well together and when they clash.

Also: What makes a memorable story? We reflect on what makes the story to a game memorable.
